HGNC Approved Gene Symbol: ENPP5
Cytogenetic location: 6p21.1 Genomic coordinates (GRCh38): 6:46,159,181-46,171,005 (from NCBI)
▼ Description
ENPP5 belongs to a family of enzymes that generate nucleoside 5-prime-monophosphates from a variety of nucleotides and their derivatives (Gijsbers et al., 2001).
▼ Cloning and Expression
Using the sequence of NPPs (see ENPP1, 173335) to query a human database, Gijsbers et al. (2001) identified ENPP5, which they called NPP5. The deduced 477-amino acid protein has an NPP consensus sequence with a catalytic threonine. NPP5 shares highest similarity with NPP4 (ENPP4; 617000).
▼ Gene Structure
Gijsbers et al. (2001) determined that the ENPP5 gene has 3 exons.
▼ Mapping
Hartz (2016) mapped the ENPP5 gene to chromosome 6p21.1 based on an alignment of the ENPP5 sequence (GenBank BC027615) with the genomic sequence (GRCh38).
