Using differential hybridization, Oh et al. (1999) cloned CDV3, which they called H41, based on its increased expression in human MCF-7 breast cancer cells overexpressing human HER2 (ERBB2; 164870) compared with control MCF-7 cells. The deduced H41 protein contains 258 amino acids and contains a nuclear localization signal. In vitro transcription/translation of H41 produced a 30-kD protein, consistent with the predicted molecular mass, as well as an additional protein with a lower molecular mass.
Fukumaru et al. (2002) cloned 2 splice variants of mouse Cdv3 that encode isoforms of 236 and 281 amino acids. The isoforms, which the authors called Cdv3a and Cdv3b, respectively, both contain an N-terminal signal sequence and differ only in their C termini. Cdv3a and Cdv3b share 72% and 75% amino acid identity with human CDV3, respectively.
Gross (2020) mapped the CDV3 gene to chromosome 3q22.1 based on an alignment of the CDV3 sequence (GenBank BC007338) with the genomic sequence (GRCh38).
Using radiation hybrid analysis, Fukumaru et al. (2002) mapped the mouse Cdv3 gene to chromosome 9.
